Mission Statement

Our department values training in both the sociological knowledge and attitude. We hope to shape our students into sociological experts capable of critical reflection and social action.

We offer training both at the undergraduate and masters levels.

Our program offers courses in three major areas of the sociological enterprise:

  1. Basic knowledge: Through courses such as sociology, sociological theory, and social philosophy; we hope to instill in our students a personally relevant and critical understanding of society.
  2. Applied knowledge: Through courses such as introduction to social work, social marketting, and program for social practice; we hope to enable students to discern and solve real world issues through a sociological vision.
  3. Social analytics: Through courses such as social research methods, analysis of secondary data, and field research in Eastern Taiwan; we hope to enable students to gather, analyze, and explain social data.
